FTL Full Truckload

The complete guide to container truck dimensions, axle weight distributions, and FTL custom gate procedures.

Full Truckload (FTL) Staging & Logistics

For large shipments, Full Truckload (FTL) transport provides exclusive use of a dedicated commercial truck. Bypassing regional sorting transshipment hubs, FTL offers direct point-to-point delivery, minimizes cargo handling risks, and allows for flexible door-to-door schedules.

Scan2Freight coordinates direct vehicle placements at your factory loading docks, secures cargo with protective lashing belts, applies security door seals, and dispatches the driver directly to the destination.

FTL Closed Container Fleet Specifications

FTL Cargo Packing & Stowage Guidelines

To ensure safe road transit, cargo should be packed and secured according to these guidelines:

  • Weight Distribution: Heavy items must be placed at the bottom, centered along the chassis axles to prevent trailer instability.
  • Lashing and Tie-Downs: Industrial ratchet straps, cargo nets, and dunnage bags fill voids, stopping boxes from shifting during highway turns or braking.
  • Sealing: High-security metal bolt seals are locked onto the container doors immediately after loading, with seal numbers recorded on the Lorry Receipt.

Why Choose FTL Shipping?

Dedicated Security

Your cargo is locked and sealed immediately after loading, remaining untouched until arrival, which reduces cargo damage and theft risks.

Point-to-Point Speed

FTL bypasses regional hub sorting stops, cutting delivery times by up to 48 hours compared to shared LTL transport.

GPS-Monitored Fleet

Vessel containers and truck cargos are monitored continuously via satellite GPS tracking, providing real-time transit alerts.

Cross-Border Land Customs Checkpoint Processing

Cross-border FTL trucking must clear specific border customs gate stages (e.g. Petrapole, Raxaul):

  • ICEGATE Filing: Indian Land Customs border filings are completed electronically prior to vehicle arrival at the border.
  • Border Yard Gate-In: The container truck enters the Land Customs Port (LCP) queue for seal verification and documents checking.
  • Custom Seal Audits: Officers audit the high-security bolt seal numbers, verifying physical matches against the Shipping Bill declarations.
  • Clearance & Transshipment: Once cleared, the truck either crosses the border directly or transships cargo to local vehicles inside the customs yard.

FTL Cargo FAQ

What is the difference between single axle and multi-axle trucks?
Single axle trucks typically support payloads up to 7.5 tons and are ideal for light, bulky cargo. Multi-axle trucks distribute heavier weights across more axles, supporting up to 15 tons or more of dense machinery and materials.
Can FTL trucks go directly to Nepal and Bangladesh?
Yes, we coordinate cross-border FTL shipments. Depending on destination gate rules, trucks can either drive directly through or transship their cargo onto a local vehicle inside the border customs yard.
What happens if the custom seal is broken during transit?
If a seal must be broken for transit customs inspections, customs officers will verify the cargo against the invoice and apply a new custom seal, recording the new number on the shipping documents.
What is the payload limit for 32ft multi-axle container trucks?
Our 32ft multi-axle closed container fleet can support payloads up to 15,000kg (15 tons). It is ideal for shipping heavy machinery components, iron and steel castings, and copper reels.
