Perishable Goods Overview

The complete guide to temperature-controlled logistics, commodity charts, FSSAI rules, and cold chain safety.

End-to-End Cold Chain Integrity

Perishable cargo shipping requires absolute precision. Even minor deviations from target storage conditions can trigger bacterial growth, rapid decay, or complete cargo spoilage.

At Scan2Freight, we coordinate premium cold chain networks across sea, air, and road routes. From pre-loading container cooling to real-time temperature tracking and expedited customs clearance, we protect your goods every step of the way.

Required Storage Settings by Commodity

Match your perishable products to our precise cargo hold and reefer container configurations:

Commodity Type Target Temp Range Relative Humidity (RH) Fresh Air Ventilation
Fresh Fruits & Green Vegetables 0°C to +4°C 90% - 95% 15 - 25 CBM/h (prevents ethylene buildup)
Dairy, Butter & Fresh Cheeses +2°C to +6°C 80% - 85% Closed (0 CBM/h)
Frozen Meat & Poultry -18°C to -22°C Not controlled Closed (0 CBM/h)
Frozen Ice Cream & Seafood -25°C to -30°C Not controlled Closed (0 CBM/h)
Clinical Pharma & Vaccines +2°C to +8°C Controlled < 60% Closed (0 CBM/h)

Phytosanitary & Food Safety Clearances

Cross-border shipping of agricultural and food items must comply with international quarantine laws:

  • FSSAI Import Clearance: Food safety officers verify product labeling (expiry dates, ingredients lists) and extract physical samples for lab tests at Indian entry customs ports.
  • Phytosanitary Certificate: Mandatory document issued by the exporting country's plant quarantine authority, certifying that plant-based cargo is free from quarantine pests.
  • Animal Quarantine (AQCS) Release: Health clearance issued by government quarantine veterinarians verifying that imported dairy, meat, and animal derivatives are disease-free.

Cold Chain FAQ

What is a phytosanitary certificate?
A phytosanitary certificate is an official government document certifying that plants, plant products, or agricultural cargo have been inspected and are free from quarantine pests and plant diseases.
What happens if the container loses power during transit?
Our IoT sensors monitor power connections in real-time. If a power drop is detected, an automated alarm is sent to the nearest dispatch office, and a backup generator set (Gen-Set) is deployed to maintain cooling.
