Air cargo consolidation is the process of bundling multiple individual air shipments into a single, master shipment. This allows shippers to access bulk air rates from airlines, reducing air transport costs for smaller packages.

We manage the consolidation process at major airport cargo terminals, checking package security (X-ray scanning), building ULD pallets, and issuing House Air Waybills (HAWB).

How Air Freight Volumetric Weight is Calculated

Air cargo is billed based on actual gross weight or volumetric weight, whichever is greater. The standard conversion factor set by IATA for air cargo is **1 CBM = 167 kg** (conversion factor of 6000):

            Volumetric Weight (kg) = Length (m) x Width (m) x Height (m) x 167
          

Example: A package measuring 1.0m x 1.0m x 1.2m has a volume of 1.2 CBM. Its volumetric weight is 1.2 * 167 = 200.4 kg. If it actually weighs 80 kg, you are billed for 200.4 kg.

The HAWB is the receipt of carriage issued by a freight forwarder to an individual shipper for a consolidated shipment, detailing cargo descriptions and destinations.

How are consolidated air cargo boxes secured?

All packages must pass through mandatory airport security screenings, including high-capacity X-ray machines and explosive trace detection (ETD) before being loaded into ULD containers.

What is a Master Air Waybill (MAWB)?

The MAWB is the contract of carriage issued by the operating airline to the freight consolidator, covering the full Unit Load Device (ULD) cargo stack.
