Inland Road Transport Incoterms 2020

For domestic and cross-border road shipping, we handle transaction responsibilities under these specific terms:

FCA (Free Carrier)

Seller loads cargo onto the buyer's truck at their factory. Buyer assumes costs and risks for the highway journey.

CPT (Carriage Paid To)

Seller pays transport up to the agreed inland destination point. Risk transfers to the buyer once cargo is given to the first road carrier.

DAP (Delivered At Place)

Seller delivers cargo to the buyer's destination warehouse door, ready for unloading. Seller assumes all transit risk.

Carriage by Road Act 2007 & Insurance Liabilities

Cargo transport on Indian national highways operates under the legal framework of the Carriage by Road Act 2007. We manage carrier declarations under two risk categories:

Owners Risk (OR): Shippers declare their own cargo insurance coverage. The transporter is only liable for damage arising from direct negligence or accidents.
Carriers Risk (CR): The carrier assumes liability for loss, damage, or delivery delays. We issue a Carriers Risk consignment note, backed by comprehensive carrier insurance policies.

FASTag & Green Tax Toll Compliances

National highway compliance is digitized to prevent transport delays at checkpoint toll booths:

FASTag Integration: All fleet vehicles are equipped with active RFID tags linked to prepaid transport wallets for electronic toll payments.

E-Way Bill: Mandatory electronic document generated on the Indian GST portal for transporting goods valued over ₹50,000.
Packing List & Commercial Invoice: Verified at land border customs checkpoints.
Transit Bond / Carnet: Required for cross-border transit to guarantee that cargo is not diverted into local markets without customs clearance.

What is the validity period of an E-Way Bill in India?

For standard cargo, the E-Way Bill is valid for 1 day per 200 km of travel distance. For Over-Dimensional Cargo (ODC) transport, it is valid for 1 day per 20 km.

Do you provide transshipment at land borders?

Depending on bilateral trade agreements, cargo is either directly driven across (direct trucking) or safely transshipped onto a destination-registered truck at the border custom yard (e.g. at the Benapole border yard).

What is a Lorry Receipt (LR)?

The Lorry Receipt is a legally binding document issued by the transport provider confirming receipt of cargo. It acts as an acknowledgment of consignment, detailing load descriptions, consignee addresses, and freight terms.
