CSC Safety Plates
All containers used in international transport must carry a valid CSC plate (Convention for Safe Containers):
- Safety Approval: Certifies that the container has undergone structural tests (load, stacking, and racking strength) and is safe to be stacked aboard container ships.
- Inspection Timelines: Inspections occur 5 years after manufacture, and then every 30 months under the PES (Periodic Examination Scheme).

Why is the payload limit of a 40ft container sometimes lower than a 20ft container?
